The difference between 30 and 40 is two lines—on your neck!

Do you ever wonder what the differentiating factor is between looking like you are 30 years old or 40 years old.  Well I’m pretty sure I pinpointed it.  I’ve noticed in the past year or so I’m getting “Old Lady Neck,” where I can actually see 2 lines that have appeared out of nowhere on my neck.    I thought maybe it was due to the weight that I gained after having my second child, but even after losing ‘almost’ all of the weight, the lines are still there!!

Once I noticed this, I realized it was all around me!  Even the “Real Housewives” with all of their money and plastic surgery can’t avoid “Old Lady Neck.”  Surely if they can’t fix it I am Shi* outta luck!  Most noticeably of the “Housewives” are Jaclyn from NJ and Tamara from OC.  Of course, the heavier you are the lines seem even worse.  But even some of the thinnest ladies I know are sporting “Old Lady Neck.”

So now everywhere I go I am able to tell the older ladies apart from the younger ones.  And unfortunately, I am now an older lady :(!  UGH, this sucks.  Anyone know of any good neck tightening tricks??

  1. Maybe some pretty scarves? Not to tighten your neck, to cover it. I’m in no way encouraging you to hang yourself. Even with pretty scarves, that would be an overreaction.

  2. Oh, the neck. I recently read Nora Ephron’s book “I Feel Bad About My Neck” and laughed because she, too, feels like her neck is the only age giveaway. If you find a good neck tightener, let me know! I am on the lookout for one, too. While I am waiting, I think a glass of red wine might help me forget my neck lines. ;)
